Nicholas Scarcella, MD, FAAOS was born and raised in Michigan and is a graduate of Grand Valley State University. He obtained his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Here he was elected into the National Honor Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency training on the island of Oahu at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii. His spine surgery fellowship was completed at the Spine Institute of Arizona in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Dr. Scarcella has been in practice since 2017 and has focused exclusively on spinal care. His training and clinical experience has an emphasis on both non surgical and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Scarcella is a member and active fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a member of the North American Spine Society.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Scarcella enjoys a wide assortment of hobbies and always maintains an interest in learning something new. He is a former ice hockey goaltender and Ironman triathlete. Dr. Scarcella recently became a father when he and his wife recently welcomed their first child. They have moved back to the Phoenix region to be with their family. Dr. Scarcella and his family are excited to be returning to the valley where he will continue to provide the highest quality spinal care. Dr. Scarcella resides in the east valley with his wife and daughter.
